 Arizona Motorcycle & Trike Campgrounds
These campgrounds/waysides/rvparks, etc. have been used by fellow motorcyclists and trikers and are suggested as a good stopping point on your trip. Offering reasonable rates, accomodations and good owners.
Tonto Creek, AZ. -
$13 a night.Tonto Creek is east of Payson about 18 miles and you turn left on NF 289 off of 260. They've got campgrounds along the rood on the creek, and then theres a campground back by the bridge on the left of the road. I think there was 6 or 7 camp sites. we went up there when you couldn't have fires, but we had a great time anyway. The sites aren't close together and shaded because of the trees, nice place. What made it better was the fishing. We found a fishing hole to die for and we had fish at dinner every night.
The weather was great, cool at night and in the morning but it didn't take long to warm up. All along that road you can camp and it puts you between the road and the river, nice set up. No showers but vault restrooms, and there is a camp host. Bring your own wood. The water lines were still being worked on due a break last winter, probably fixed by now.
Didn't need any camping permit for that camp ground, found that out after I bought'em. For those who open carry. It' s permitted.
